Episode 31

I’m Tom Hailey and this is the Bluegrass Region Voices and Views podcast.

Usually at this point I’m introducing my guest. But not today.

This month, November 2022, my wife and I did something we’d not done in our 50 years of marriage.

We took a two-week vacation!  We were gone from home for 13 nights.

We enjoyed relaxing in Destin Florida and Gulf Shores Alabama. It was wonderful, but we were very happy to be driving up the Bluegrass Parkway on day 14 seeing the beautiful sights of the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky.

Making plans for being away two weeks… and then the Thanksgiving holiday… a video project…enjoying time with family …and the need to just unplug… led me to decide not to schedule a guest for November.

My podcast is usually not about me. It’s about my guests and their stories… and I look for opportunities to take my voice out.

But this is a solo or monologue episode. A brief one. To celebrate Thanksgiving from a podcasters point of view.

Here’s a 10-point gratitude list from my perspective as a podcast and video producer:

I’m thankful for:

  1. Smart accomplished friends willing to share their stories.
  2. The opportunity podcasting provides me to meet new people and make new friends who are willing to be guests and share their stories.
  3. The educational and inspirational stories I get to hear and share.
  4. The time in retirement to continue to learn and improve in my use of the podcasting tools and technology.
  5. More ideas about what I could do with this platform in 2023 than I will actually be able to do. And that leaves more to look forward to in 2024.
  6. The space in my home for my audio podcasting and video green screen studios.
  7. My wife who is not only okay with my use of the space and the time involved, but who encourages me.
  8. Margin in my budget to purchase the equipment and services needed.
  9. Having excellent internet service through Metronet.
  10. The Lexington Podcasters meet-up group which offers inspiration, friendships, and technology ideas.

Those are 10 of many things I’m thankful for just involving podcasting.

If I got started about what I’m thankful for in other areas of my life, we’d be here a few hours.

What about you? What are you thankful for as we close out 2022?

Send me a brief audio clip about it and maybe I’ll work it into a future episode.

email it to me at thailey@tomhailey.com

In 2023 I’m going to continue with the theme of conversations with inspiring and creative people around the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky. I hope you do too.

Thanks for listening.
